Guisachan House in Okanagan Mission

Lord and Lady Aberdeen’s original Indian colonial style bungalow was built in 1891 and given the name of Lady Aberdeen’s ancestral Scottish home. Guisachan means “place of the firs.” The above photo shows the family gathered with neighbours for a bear hunt during their short stay, but no bear was found, so the hunters had to make do with prairie chickens. | Kelowna Public Archives 3412
