Black Ball Line


BLACK BALL LINE operated ferry service on the South Coast between 1951 and 1961. It was formed by the PUGET SOUND NAVIGATION CO when many of that company's ferry routes in Puget Sound were taken over by the state of Washington. Black Ball routes connected HORSESHOE BAY with NANAIMO and Langdale, on the western shore of HOWE SOUND, and in 1952 crossed JERVIS INLET to link POWELL RIVER to the Sechelt Peninsula.
