COCCOLA, Nicolas, missionary (b 12 Dec 1854, Coccola, Corsica; d circa 1940, Smithers). He spent 60 years working as an Oblate missionary (see OBLATES OF MARY IMMACULATE) among BC's FIRST NATIONS. He arrived from France in 1880 and initially was posted to KAMLOOPS, where his missionary field included the NICOLA Valley.
