Nicola River


NICOLA RIVER rises on the Douglas Plateau northeast of PENNASK LK and flows generally westward for 150 km to join the THOMPSON R near SPENCES BRIDGE. The rolling GRASSLANDS through which the upper portion of the river meanders has been cattle country since the first ranchers arrived in the 1870s (see CATTLE INDUSTRY).
