Wardner

WARDNER, pop 342, is a LOGGING settlement on the CPR's Crowsnest branch and the west side of the KOOTENAY R, 26 km southeast of CRANBROOK. Crows Nest Pass Lumber operated a large SAWMILL here in the 1910s and 1920s. It was named after James F. Wardner, a MINING and railway promoter who developed the townsite in 1896.
