CRUISE SHIP INDUSTRY in the PORT OF VANCOUVER carries passengers on luxurious vessels north through the INSIDE PASSAGE to Alaska during summer. From its origins in the 1970s the industry has grown to become a major contributor to the Lower Mainland economy, particularly since terminal facilities were opened at Canada Place for EXPO 86.
