Cranberry Junction

CRANBERRY JUNCTION is a tiny community off the STEWARTCASSIAR Hwy (Hwy 37), 62 km northwest of HAZELTON. The Cranberry R drains into the NASS R and is part of the traditional territory of the NISGA'A people. The Junction was on an important aboriginal trade route (see also TRAILS) leading to the east and north. In the last few years it has become the centre of an annual autumn harvest of wild matsutake (pine) MUSHROOMS, considered a delicacy in Japan.
