Chukar


CHUKAR  () (Alectoris chukar) is a chicken-sized game bird introduced from eastern Europe to the south-central Interior during 1950–55. It is grey in colour with a black and white barred chest, red bill, white face and black eyeband. Chukars inhabit the rocky hillsides and dry GRASSLANDS of the THOMPSON, NICOLA and S OKANAGAN valleys. Attempts to introduce them elsewhere in the province have failed....
