Canim Lake


CANIM LAKE  () , 56 sq km, 37 km long, nestles in the mountains 35 km east of 100 MILE HOUSE. Its eastern end touches the edge of WELLS GRAY PROVINCIAL PARK. The name means "canoe" in CHINOOK JARGON. Canim is a popular recreational lake with good FISHING and boating and many resorts and summer homes. The area is traditional SECWEPEMC (Shuswap) territory and the home of the Canim Lake Nation, centred at Tsq'escen'. See also LAKES....
