SECWEPEMC (Shuswap) are an Interior SALISH people in central BC whose traditional territories stretch from the FRASER R east to the ROCKY MTS. Today there are about 8,500 Secwepemc occupying 17 communities, 4 of which are allied in the CARIBOO Tribal Council in WILLIAMS LAKE, the rest forming the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council at KAMLOOPS.
