Welbury Bay


Welbury Bay (48˚51'00" 123˚26'00" E side of Saltspring I, E of Ganges Hbr, Gulf Is), Welbury Point (SW entrance to Welbury Bay). Named by Cdr John Parry of HMS Egeria, while re-surveying Ganges Hbr in 1905, after Welbury House at Bradford, Yorkshire. Welbury was a former residence of Saltspring farmer William Scott (see Scott Point), who owned the land around Welbury Bay in those early days.
