Tom Point

Tom Point (48˚40'00" 123˚16'00" E tip of Rum I, W side of Haro Str, Gulf Is). Named in 1858 by the officers of the RN survey vessel Plumper after Thomas Pamphlet, early master mariner on the BC coast, who was known familiarly as “Capt Tom.” He was becalmed off this point in his schooner Violet when a party from the Plumper decided to go and visit him. See Pamphlet Cove for a more detailed biography.
