Earl Ledge

Earl Ledge (50˚24'47" 125˚55'15" Extending S from SW side of Hardwicke I, Johnstone Str). Named by Cdr Cortland Simpson in association with nearby Hardwicke I, which had been named in 1792 by Capt George Vancouver after the Earl of Hardwicke. Simpson re-surveyed this area with HMS Egeria in 1901. In 1950 the Bendickson family, long-time Hardwicke I homesteaders, built a breakwater over Earl Ledge to create a boat harbour. See Bendickson Hbr and Hardwicke I for more information.
