Wild, Rowland


WILD, Rowland, journalist (b 30 July 1904, Manchester, England; d 29 Dec 1989, Vancouver). He shot to fame in 1928 as the only reporter able to get inside Afghanistan to write about the political turmoil occurring there. This launched his career as a peripatetic journalist who covered some of the biggest news stories of the century, including Gandhi in India, the Spanish Civil War and post-war reconstruction in Germany.
