White, John Clayton


WHITE, John Clayton, artist, architect (b 25 Nov 1835, England; d 7 June 1907, Berkeley, CA). He was an artist and draughtsman with the ROYAL ENGINEERS and came to BC with the contingent that arrived in 1858. After the engineers were disbanded he became a surveyor and artist with COLLINS OVERLAND TELEGRAPH, while also working as a draughtsman for the Lands and Works Dept of the COLONIAL GOVERNMENT and later the provincial government.
