Wallace, Clarence


WALLACE, Clarence, shipbuilder, lt gov 1950–55 (b 22 June 1893, Vancouver; d 12 Nov 1982, Palm Desert, CA). The son of the shipbuilder Alfred "Andy" WALLACE, he joined BURRARD DRY DOCK after finishing school. During WWI he served overseas and was wounded at Ypres. By 1929 he was president of the family company, which during WWII built dozens of ships in support of the war effort, earning him a CBE in 1946.
