UREN, Jane, hotelkeeper (b circa 1831, Cornwall, England; d 1884, Kamloops). She operated the finest hotels in the Interior, first at CLINTON, later at SAVONA. After she was abandoned by her first husband, Peter Toy, she formed a relationship with James Uren. With James away packing so much of the time, she ran the Clinton hotel on her own, as well as bearing several children.
