SANNIES were the original passenger ferries operated between HORSESHOE BAY and BOWEN ISLAND. The Sannie Transportation Co was founded in 1921 by John H. Brown, who named it for an Australian racehorse. Tommy White took over the business in 1922 and ran regular ferries to Snug Cove and Hood Point on Bowen Island, as well as excursions to other locations around HOWE SOUND. The vessels were long and narrow with 2 rows of bus-like seating inside. The UNION STEAMSHIP CO bought the business in 1944...
