MacLean, John Duncan


MacLEAN, John Duncan, teacher, doctor, politician, premier 20 Aug 1927–20 Aug 1928 (b 8 Dec 1873, Culloden, PEI; d 28 Mar 1948, Ottawa, ON). A schoolteacher by training, he was principal in ROSSLAND when he decided to study medicine. He graduated from McGill Univ in 1905, then ended up back in BC. He was practising in GREENWOOD when he entered politics, first as an alderman, then as mayor, and then in 1916 as a LIBERAL member of the provincial legislature.
