Kathaumixw


KATHAUMIXW is a unique international choral festival, staged every 2 years in POWELL RIVER. It was originated by Don James, founder of the Powell River Academy of Music, and was held for the first time in 1984. More than 1,000 singers from Europe, Africa and Asia attend the event, which has brought international fame to the host community. Kathaumixw is a Salish word meaning "a gathering together of different peoples."
