Hume, Frederick John


HUME, Frederick John, electrical contractor, municipal politician (b 2 May 1892, New Westminster; d 17 Feb 1967). He began in NEW WESTMINSTER with a small radio shop and expanded it into western Canada's largest electrical contracting business, Hume & Rumble. In 1924 he founded CFXC, one of the first radio stations in BC, in the back of his shop. The station later moved to VANCOUVER as CJOR (see BROADCASTING).
