Gold River


GOLD RIVER, village, pop 1,359 (2001), is on the west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND, 12 km upriver from the head of MUCHALAT INLET. It began as a LOGGING community at the mouth of the river when the Tahsis Co established a camp there in 1955. Road access to CAMPBELL RIVER was complete in 1958.
