Cuckoo

CUCKOO is a slender, long-tailed bird of which 3 species are found in N America. Two of the three species found in North America occur very rarely in British Columbia. The Yellow-billed cuckoo (Coccyzus americanus) is considered accidental in this province, while Black-billed cuckoos (Coccyzus erythropthalmus), which breed from Alberta to Nova Scotia, are infrequently seen or heard in the BC Interior in late spring and summer, particularly in the CRESTON and REVELSTOKE areas.
