Commando Bay


COMMANDO BAY, 16 km north of NARAMATA on the east side of OKANAGAN LK, was the site of a training camp for commandos during WWII. Between May and Sept 1944 the Special Operations Executive of the Canadian military trained volunteers, many of them CHINESE Canadians (including Douglas JUNG, later a VANCOUVER MP), in the skills of subversion, sabotage and guerrilla warfare, preparing them to infiltrate behind enemy lines.
