Clayhurst

CLAYHURST, 50 km east of FORT ST JOHN near the Alberta border in the PEACE R district, was named after William Clay, who took up land here in 1930. Many UKRAINIAN farmers settled in this rich agricultural area. A ferry, now replaced by a bridge, operated on the Peace R for many years due south of Clayhurst.
