Christina Lake


CHRISTINA LAKE, 26 sq km, 19 km long, 21 km east of GRAND FORKS in the MONASHEE MTS of the W KOOTENAY, is one of the warmest LAKES in BC, a benefit that draws thousands of summer visitors. Pictographs on the east side are evidence of early FIRST NATIONS occupation (see ROCK ART). The lake was named for Christina McDonald, daughter of a chief factor of the HBC at Fort Colville in Washington state. Its southern end is intersected by the DEWDNEY TRAIL.
