Celista

CELISTA, pop 461, on the north shore of SHUSWAP LK 28 km north of SALMON ARM, was named after Celesta Creek on SEYMOUR ARM (Selesta is a prominent SECWEPEMC ancestral name). Settled by British immigrants in the early 1900s, this quiet farming (see AGRICULTURE) and LOGGING community has developed into a popular summer resort.
