CASSIAR was a wooden-hulled UNION STEAMSHIP CO vessel, built by Wallace Shipyards (see BURRARD DRY DOCK) in FALSE CREEK in VANCOUVER and launched in Sept 1901. Known familiarly as the "loggers' palace," it was used mainly to transport loggers between their isolated coastal camps and the saloons of Vancouver.
