Campbell Lake


CAMPBELL LAKE and Upper Campbell Lk on north-central VANCOUVER ISLAND are part of the Campbell R system that empties into DISCOVERY PASSAGE at the city of CAMPBELL RIVER. After WWII the BC government chose the Campbell R for a large HYDROELECTRICITY project (see also BC POWER COMMISSION). The John HART Dam near Elk Falls was built in 1947 and 2 more dams followed, on Campbell and Upper Campbell lakes.
