Campbell, Gray


CAMPBELL, Gray, book publisher (b 1912, Ottawa, ON; d 10 June 2000, Victoria). He was BC's first full-time BOOK PUBLISHER. Fresh out of high school he worked at a stock brokerage firm in Ottawa, then joined the RCMP, serving with the force in western Canada from 1932 to 1939. During WWII he served overseas in the Royal Air Force. He and his new wife Eleanor took up ranching in Alberta after the war, an experience he wrote about in his 1953 memoir We Found Peace.
