Wootton Bay


Wootton Bay (50˚05'00" 124˚43'00" N end of Lancelot Inlet, E of Gifford Peninsula, just S of Desolation Sd, NW of Powell R), Wootton Islet (52˚16'00" 128˚20'00" Entrance to Berry Inlet, NW side of Seaforth Channel, NW of Bella Bella). The bay was named by Lt Daniel Pender about 1863 for colonial official Henry Wootton (1826–75); the islet is named for his wife, Eliza Wootton (1826–1918, née Yardley).
