Witty’s Lagoon


Witty’s Lagoon (48˚23'00" 123˚31'00" N end of Parry Bay, W of Albert Head, SW of Victoria). Named for John Frederick Witty (d 1873), who purchased the Bilston Farm adjacent to the lagoon in the mid-1860s. This property, established in 1851 by Thomas Blinkhorn and Capt James Cooper, and later owned by Robert Burnaby, was the first farm in Metchosin and one of the earliest on Vancouver I.
