Willemar Bluff


Willemar Bluff (49˚40'00" 124˚54'00" E of Comox Hbr, NE of Goose Spit, E side of Vancouver I). Named in 1945 by the hydrographic service after Rev Jules Xavier Willemars (1843–1935), the first Roman Catholic priest in the Comox district, who later joined the Anglican church. He was born in France and immigrated to Canada in 1867, arriving in the Comox valley in 1871 as a missionary to the First Nations.
