Westcott Point


Westcott Point (50˚59'00" 127˚28'00" N side of Shelter Bay, NW side of Queen Charlotte Str, N of Port Hardy). Able Seaman James Herbert Westcott, of Victoria, died on active service, Nov 6, 1939, aged 29, while aboard the Fraser, an RCN destroyer, at Halifax. He is buried at Esquimalt’s Veterans Cemetery. HMCS Fraser was later lost off the coast of France in 1940 after it collided in rough weather with HMS Calcutta.
