Walker Island


Walker Island (52˚06'00" 128˚07'00" Off SW side of Denny I, S of Alarm Cove, just S of Bella Bella). In 1917–18, Lt Cdr Wilfred Tyrell Walker (1888–1967) of the RCN was listed as CO of the torpedo boat Grilse (the former motor yacht Winchester), operating out of Halifax, and also as CO of HMCS Acadia, a patrol and survey vessel. He may have served briefly with HMCS Rainbow and Shearwater on the Pacific coast as well. During WWII he came out of retirement to take on the role of DEMS...
