Varney Bay


Varney Bay (50˚33'00" 127˚31'00" E of Quatsino Narrows, just SE of Coal Hbr, N end of Vancouver I). Thomas Henry Varney (1869–1952), his wife, Ethel (1870–1959), and their two children emigrated from England in 1896 and arrived the following year at Quatsino Sd. There they pre-empted land at the head of this bay, established a homestead and raised a large family, receiving a Crown grant for their property in 1911.
