Vargas Cone


Vargas Cone (49˚05'33" 125˚52'03" SE of Cox Bay and Tofino), Vargas Island (49˚11'10" 125˚59'00" Just NW of Tofino, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Vargas I was originally named Isla de Teran, after an unidentified Spanish official, by naval officer Francisco Eliza in 1791. This name was mistakenly adopted by Capt George Vancouver as Feran I.
