Tsuquanah Point

Tsuquanah Point (48˚40'00" 124˚51'00" W entrance to Nitinat Narrows, SE of Barkley Sd, SW side of Vancouver I). Named after Tsuxwkwaada, the preferred spelling for the nearby Ditidaht First Nation reserve, once the site of a significant village. The inhabitants of Tsuxwkwaada were noted whalers, fur-seal hunters and halibut fishers. There were five large houses at the settlement when the 96-ha reserve was marked out in 1892.
