Trahey Inlet


Trahey Inlet (52˚42'00" 128˚47'00" S end of Princess Royal I, just W of Laredo Inlet). James W Trahey (d 1868), a native of NS, came to Victoria via California in 1858 and established a shipyard on the W side of Victoria Hbr. Here he built BC’s first sternwheelers, the Caledonia (1858) and the Governor Douglas (1859), before moving his operation to Laurel Point and constructing the Colonel Moody (1859).
