Tenas Island


Tenas Island (52˚42'00" 128˚33'00" E side of Tolmie Channel, N of Swindle I, NW of Bella Bella). Tenas was the word for “small” or “few” in the Chinook jargon used on the W coast by First Nation groups and early traders and settlers. There are numerous other features named Tenas in BC, including two creeks, a hill, a lake, a peak, a narrows (on Little Lillooet Lk) and the Tenas Tikke Glacier N of Tarr Inlet.
