Swan Rock


Swan Rock (51˚32'00" 127˚47'00" S of Addenbroke Point, N entrance to Darby Channel, E side of Fitz Hugh Sd, SE of Bella Bella). The 35-tonne steam tug Swan was built at Victoria by W J Stevens in 1893 for Robert Draney, owner of the first Rivers Inlet cannery. Draney later used the Swan at his Namu cannery, then sold it to Capt John Cates, who developed Bowen I as a holiday destination for Vancouver vacationers.
