Sunshine Coast


Sunshine Coast (50˚00'00" 123˚45'00" Between Howe Sd and Desolation Sd). The Union Steamship Co borrowed this name from local pioneer Harry Roberts about 1925 to promote its holiday excursions to Sechelt and Selma Park. The original phrase, which Roberts had painted in large letters on the freight shed at the Roberts Ck steamship dock, was “Sunshine Belt.” The company also called the region “the Gulf Coast Riviera” in its brochures.
