Steele Reefs


Steele Reefs (50˚18'00" 127˚53'00" Entrance to Klaskino Inlet, Brooks Bay, NW side of Vancouver I). Capt John Steele (1858–1900) was born on PEI and came to BC to join the sealing fleet as master of the schooner Penelope in 1888. He later also served as capt of the Winifred, Theresa and Ainoko. In 1892 he retired from sealing to join the crew of the Barbara Boscowitz as mate and pilot. Steele was mentioned in the Victoria Colonist newspaper in 1896 as capt of the Canadian Pacific Navigation...
