Staniforth Bank


Staniforth Bank (53˚35'00" 128˚49'00" S end of Devastation Channel, entrance to Gardner Canal, S of Kitimat), Staniforth Point (53˚34'00" 128˚49'00" Near W entrance to Gardner Canal). The point was named by Joseph Whidbey, master of HMS Discovery, possibly after John Staniforth, a ship owner at Hull, England, and Tory MP, 1802–18.
