Somerville Bay


Somerville Bay (54˚47'00" 130˚13'00" N side of Somerville I), Somerville Island (54˚44'00" 130˚17'00" Between Steamer Passage and Portland Inlet, NW end of Khutzeymateen Inlet, N of Prince Rupert). Lt Daniel Pender, while surveying in the area in 1868 with the Beaver, named the island after Mary Somerville, the mother of the Cunningham brothers, Robert and John, who became prominent residents of the N coast.
