Smyth Head


Smyth Head (48˚19'00" 123˚36'00" E side of Becher Bay, SE of Fraser I, S tip of Vancouver I). Capt William Henry Smyth (1788–1865) was a well-known RN surveying officer, astronomer and writer on scientific topics. He entered the service of the E India Co as a youth, joined the RN in 1805 and saw action off China, India and Australia.
