Skegness


Skegness (48˚27'00" 123˚17'00" SW entrance to Cadboro Bay, just N of Oak Bay, SE end of Vancouver I). This point is named for the English town of Skegness, which was originally a small port and fishing village located on the E coast of Lincolnshire. The arrival of a railroad in 1875, however, combined with the area’s fine beaches, resulted in the site becoming a well-known resort—home to the first Butlin’s holiday camp, built in 1936.
