Skedin Islet


Skedin Islet (50˚30'00" 127˚50'00" N side of Koprino Hbr, Quatsino Sd, NW end of Vancouver I). August E Skedin (b 1863), a native of Sweden, was one of the original settlers who founded the Scandinavian colony of Quatsino in late 1894. He homesteaded there and received a Crown grant of land in 1901. Skedin had immigrated to BC with his wife, Erika (b 1866), and three daughters in the early 1890s; in 1896 the couple celebrated the new-world birth of their first son by naming him Vancouver....
