Shearer Point


Shearer Point (52˚47'00" 132˚04'00" W entrance to Newcombe Inlet, Tasu Sd, W side of Moresby I, QCI), Shearer Rock (52˚47'00" 132˚03'00" Just SE of Shearer Point). The point was originally named after RCAF officer William R Shearer, who came to the QCI in 1935 on a special mission for the Dept of National Defence. Shearer retired from the armed forces in 1963 as a squadron leader and cdr of RCAF Station Pagwa, an Ont radar facility. Shearer Rk was named by the hydrographic service in 1962,...
