Sharp Island


Sharp Island (49˚11'00" 125˚52'00" E side of Lemmens Inlet, Meares I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Named after William Sharp (1902–87), a former chairman or mayor of the Tofino village council, 1958–61, who died at Tofino. The name was adopted in 1986 on the recommendation of G E Richardson of the hydrographic service. Sharp Ck, on Meares I just opposite Sharp I, was named for him in 1959.
